Launched in November 2023, TAMIS PoC set out to tackle a long-standing problem in audiovisual production: metadata that gets lost, duplicated or hard to trace as a work moves from one tool and one partner to the next. Subtitles, identifiers and descriptions are too often re-created from scratch, simply because the earlier version could not be found.
The project was led by the CST, with Startin'blox contributing its semantic-web and interoperability expertise, alongside France Télévisions, Newen Studios, ISAN (opens in a new tab) ISAN International Standard Audiovisual Number: the ISO identifier of an audiovisual work, which stays the same wherever the work travels. and PROCIREP.
Its goals were set early: agree on shared data formats built on established ontologies such as EBUCore, ship open-source connectors (opens in a new tab) Connector The software component a participant runs, or has run for it, to exchange data inside the data space. It enforces identity, contracts and policies. so tools can exchange information cleanly, and make it far easier to discover existing assets and identify who holds the rights. The aim throughout is less duplicated work, lower production costs, and more value drawn from collections that are finally discoverable.
