TEMS, the Trusted European Media Data Space

In December 2023, the Trusted European Media Data Space (opens in a new tab) Data space A decentralised infrastructure enabling trustworthy data exchanges based on commonly agreed rules. (TEMS) got under way: a flagship initiative co-funded by the European Union under the Digital Europe Programme, designed to give the media, cultural and creative sectors a common, trusted data space to share data across borders.

TEMS brings together 42 organisations from 12 countries, representing hundreds of stakeholders, around a total investment of roughly EUR 16.5 million. As one of the European Common Data Spaces of the EU Data Strategy, it aims to strengthen Europe's digital sovereignty and let media organisations access, share and create value from data in a secure, interoperable and sustainable way.

TAMIS is the audiovisual production trial of TEMS. It applies the data space to film and programme-making, so that the metadata describing a work stays intact, traceable and reusable as it travels across the production chain.
